Time Capsule is an app that would allow parents and loved ones to gather photos, videos, and memories in one shared place for someone special. Starting with only a name and vision, the goal was to design a complete product experience from the ground up, transforming the concept of digital photo albums into collaborative “time capsules” that friends and family could contribute to over time. The result is an experience centered on connection, legacy, and the quiet magic of remembering.
Brand Identity and App Visual Language
The logo and branding system were designed to reflect both time and care, using an hourglass shape as the core pictorial mark to symbolize moments being held and passed forward. A palette of cool blues and deep navy establishes trust and calm, while touches of yellow highlight active elements and guide interaction within the app. Early concept screens explored multiple visual themes across blue, white, and navy variations, helping refine a cohesive interface that feels gentle, modern, and emotionally resonant.
The Memory Maker: Curator of the Capsule
At the heart of the experience is the Memory Maker, the primary administrator who creates and manages Time Capsules. This user can build unlimited albums, invite friends and family to contribute photos and videos, and oversee all submissions within each space. Designed for parents, relatives, or close friends, the Memory Maker role ensures every collection remains organized, intentional, and deeply personal.
The Story Teller: Contributor of Moments
The Story Teller participates through invitation, gaining access only to the specific Time Capsules shared with them. Within those spaces, they can upload photos and videos and view the memories they have contributed, creating a focused and meaningful way to share moments without overwhelming complexity. This role keeps collaboration simple while preserving the intimacy of each collection.
The Time Traveler: Recipient of the Story
The Time Traveler is the person for whom the Time Capsule is created, the future viewer stepping into a living archive of memories. They can explore photos, watch videos, listen to voice memos, and read written notes gathered over time, while also contributing their own reflections and content. This role transforms the app from a storage tool into something more lasting: a personal narrative unfolding across years, waiting to be rediscovered.
